For 2009, Pflueger has introduced a number of new reels for novice and expert anglers alike. From Pflueger’s President LP and XT reels to the Patriarch spinning reels, Pflueger has a new look and feel and is becoming a much more serious contender with its line of reels.
Pflueger’s new President XT provides a great value in a 10-bearing reel, with its solid aluminum long-cast spool, titanium lip and a machined aluminum crank handle. The drive train is supported by precision bearings with a OWC bearing and a smooth sealed carbon fiber drag system. 
Available in six sizes to suit ultra-light panfishing situations or medium-duty saltwater applications, the President XT spinning reel has an MSRP of $79.95 and comes with a spare aluminum spool.
Pflueger also has introduced the Patriarch in the fight to become the best low profile reel in the casting market. The Patriarch features an Ultimate Breaking System (UBS) a patent-pending system that features an adjustable six-pin centrifugal brake system, combined with an externally adjustable magnetic brake system. This provides a number of spool control settings.
The Patriarch features an 11 bearing system, including 10 shielded SS BB, for unparalleled smoothness. When combined with a multi disc carbon fiber drag system, a lightweight aircraft grade aluminium main gear and an aluminum frame and Titanium coated sideplates, the Patriarch is taken to a new level in baitcaster performance.
Available in four different configurations, Pflueger offers a Patriarch that meets any fresh or inshore saltwater needs. The 6.4:1 and 7.1:1 models are available in low profile and wide low profile designs. The Patriarch is offered at an MSRP of $199.95.
Another new addition to the Pflueger line of reels is the new Medalist spinning reels. With the new reels anglers get a spinning reel that can handle a smooth drag necessary when fishing with lighter line and a reel that can handle serious use. Mith an MSRP of under $90, the Medalist is not too heavy on the price, yet according to the manufacturer, is “the best aluminum spinning reel Pflueger has ever made.”
According to the manufacturer, the Medalist incorporates a number of advanced design features, including:
- Stainless steel drive train with stainless steel ball bearings
- One way clutch bearing
- Sealed multi-disk carbon fiber front drag system
- Instant anti-reverse
The bearings are sealed for longevity and endurance even in salt and brackish water environments.
